Conféderation Européenne des Relations Publiques - the European Public Relations Confederation, is the umbrella organisation of national and professional PR associations all over Europe. It was founded in 1959 by practitioners from Belgium, France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. Its initiator was the famous Lucien Matrat, author of the Code of Athens. Since this time the world has changed dramatically. Colleagues in many central and eastern European countries have founded PR associations that today belong to CERP - forming a European network of professional contacts.
Thomas Achelis was a board member of CERP since 1989, and CERP president between 1995 and 1998 and between 2000 and 2006.

CIPR has a clear vision for the Institute and the public relations profession and a mission that captures its commitment to the profession.
